Our children as signs and wonders

Isaiah 8: 18

Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

Why should our children be signs and wonders?

• Children are God’s heritage: Psalms127: 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
• Children are like arrows: Ps 127: 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
• He who have them full in his quiver shall not be ashamed: Ps127: 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
• There are prophecies that are written concerning them.

The enemy’s response to God’s plan for our children.

• He always standby to devour them. Matt 2:16, Rev 12
• He makes decrees to terminate them. Exodus 1:16, 22.
• He even raises close relatives to terminate their lives and their purposes. 2Kings 11:1
• He lures them into immorality and addictions just like Samson.
• He renders them academically backward etc.
• He makes them to rebel against parental authority etc.
• He occupies their parents so that they are unable to till the lands of their children. Prov 12:11

Mark 11:1-11 And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples, 2And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. 3And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.4And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. 5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 6And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.7And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. 8And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

Matthew 21:4-5 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

• Jesus sent His disciples to a village opposite them, why not the village they were presently in
• Could it be that there were colt that could not meet Jesus’s standard? Could the entire colt there be free rangers?
• The colt Christ wanted to ride into Jerusalem had to be tied down. Why?
• Prophecy had to be fulfilled. Zech 9:9
• There were men who were free rangers in His days, and they have brought this attitude of been free even into the temple, they were loose and free to sell and buy right there in the temple.
• People were leaving at ease, everyone seemed to do what pleases them, and in the midst of all that, Christ sought for “a tied down colt” to do signs and wonders through him.

The colt

• He was tied down without in a place where two ways met.
• No man had sat on it
• They brought the colt to Jesus
• People cast their garments on him
• Many spread their garments in the way
• Jesus rode on him

Prayer points

• Grant our children a deeper understanding of discipleship.
• Tie our children down in discipleship for concerted incubation.
• Make us, their parents a discipler indeed to each and every one of them.
• Dinah could not endure till the time heaven would have made her a sign and wonder, Lord grant our children endurance. Gen 34:1-2
• When sinners entice them help them not to agree just like Daniel and the 3 Hebrew boys.
• Deliver our children from the king’s meat that defiles, destroys and renders unusable for signs and wonders.
• Preserve them from the hands of the enemy that is standing by in order to devour them.
• Encourage the wonder and sign of virginity amongst our young men and women.
• Re-introduce the wonder of modesty and purity to our children.
