God for the lives of our Elders: within our immediate families
parents/uncles/aunties/elders within the body of Christ and in our nations
We
are to examine two case studies to help us to pray for our Elders;
Genesis
27: 1, 21-24
Now
it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not
see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.”
21
Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether
you are really my son Esau or not.” 22 So Jacob went near to Isaac his father,
and he felt him and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the
hands of Esau.” 23 And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy
like his Brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him.
24
Then he said, “Are you really my son Esau?” He said, “I am.”
The
signs of confusion was apparent with Isaac and physical ageing vulnerability of
his dim eyes. Hence, his son Jacob took an advantaged and deceived him at the
old age.
Second
case study Genesis 48: 10-19
10
Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, so that he could not see. Then Joseph
brought them near him, and he kissed them and embraced them. 11 And Israel said
to Joseph, “I had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown
me your offspring!”
12
So Joseph brought them from beside his knees, and he bowed down with his face
to the earth. 13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward
Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand,
and brought them near him. 14 Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid
it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s
head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn. 15 And he
blessed Joseph, and said: “God, before whom my father’s Abraham and Isaac
walked,
The
God who has fed me all my life long to this day,n16 The Angel who has redeemed
me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name
of my father’s Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the
midst of the earth.” 17 Now when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand
on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; so he took hold of his father’s hand
to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. 18 And Joseph said to his
father, “Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand
on his head.” 19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He
also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger
brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude
of nations.”
Second
case study is the history of Jacob and his son Joseph with the grandsons:
Manasseh and Ephraim. The scripture recorded Isaac and Jacob both experienced
physical old age health condition of dim eyes, but the different with Jacob was
that his inner-man was strengthen. He was spiritually alert and sound. The life
of Christ in Jacob helped him through from the day when he was encountered by
God.

every decision-making.
·
(1
Corinthians 2:14) 14 But
the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are
foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned.
Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward;
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
The scripture says that the old shall
dream dreams, but dream is just dreams, but we shall pray to God Almighty to
remember all the good dreams of our Elders over their children, children’s
children, families, over the body of Christ and nations of the world.
Especially concerning rain of revival we are awaiting by the mercy of God to

(Luke
2: 25-30) 25 And behold,
there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and
devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon
him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not
see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came by the Spirit
into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him
according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed
God and said:
29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant
depart in peace, According to Your word;
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation
31 Which You have prepared before the face
of all peoples,
32 A light to bring revelation to the
Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
Pray to the same Lord that helped Simeon
to see the fulfilment of his dream to send help to our elders to have
testimonies’ like Simeon.

truly seeing the Lord’s Christ Jesus Amen!
